Oil Paint
How do you store water soluble oil paints?
Water-mixable oil paint stores best in tightly sealed tubes or containers, with leftover palette paint protected from air and extreme temperatures rather than refrigerated by default.

Water soluble oil paints can be workable and wet for around 24 hours. However, with proper care, you can increase the time of wet.
Water soluble oil paint is an expensive paint. So storing paint properly can save a lot of money.
In this article, I will explain how the paint store can be a suitably short and long time.

An airtight palette box can slow skin formation on leftover water-mixable oils, but the paint should still be kept clean, sealed from excess air, and used within a reasonable time.
The palette has a specific holder, sponge, paper, and container. You must wet the paper and then put it on the sponge. Now you can take your paint on the palette. Seal the holder when your painting is finished, or you take a break. The paint will be wet for two weeks or more.
There are very few chances to mold the paint because of the air seal. However, when wet the paper, you should mix a small amount of bleaching powder in water.
Paint tube

Paint is most stable in its original tube with the cap and threads kept clean, because a tight seal limits air exposure and contamination between painting sessions.
To use the tube, just put the paint in the paint tube and seal the tube cap.
Container
Small airtight containers can hold mixed water-mixable oils for short-term reuse, provided the paint is kept clean and the container is compatible with oil-painting materials.
After finishing the project, scrape all paint with a palette knife from the palette and then put the paint in a container.
Is it better to store paint in glass, plastic, or metal containers?
General Metal cans are the best of all of them because cans have a built-in air seal. And then the general glass jar also has an air seal, but the jar cap does not seal like metal cans. Last plastic jar. It can have a small leak, crack, or anything.
However, it is not always right but most of the time. Different material containers are only built for paint storage. So you can not judge with this trick.
Plastic containers are cheaper and a good option for 1-3 days of storage of paint.
Food wrap
Plastic film can reduce air exposure on a palette for short periods, but it is less secure than a sealed palette box or container and can easily contact or disturb the paint.
Use refrigerator
Refrigeration is usually unnecessary for artist oil paint and may introduce condensation or food-storage concerns, so a cool stable studio location is generally more practical.
How to use a refrigerator?
- Put the paint air seal jar.
- Label the jar, and note the paint name, store date, and expiration date.
- Then store the paint at 0-2 degree Celsius.
- Before applying the paint again, take some time out of the freezer at room temperature. And then you can use it.
Is water soluble oil paint ruined if it freezes?
Water soluble paint does not freeze easily. It takes a minimum of -4° Celsius to freeze. Where usually, use 0° Celsius in a general refrigerator.
However, paint can thicken. For reactive, take some time at room temperature; then, add little water or paint medium.
