Distemper Paint
Distemper paint is a traditional water-based decorative coating made with mineral pigments and a glue- or protein-based binder. Soft distemper is especially associated with porous interior plaster and historic decorative work, where its matte, breathable finish is valued.
Distemper paint compatibility
Traditional distemper works best on sound, porous interior surfaces that can accept the coating. Existing modern paint, glossy finishes, dampness, or incompatible sealers can prevent proper bonding and should be addressed before application.
